Welcome to LEA!

Clean lakes are important to everyone who boats, swims, fishes or simply enjoys the beauty of the Lakes Region. Our economy and our quality of life depend on lakes, but they face many threats, from development to invasive plants.

LEA, a non-profit organization, protects the lakes of Western Maine in many ways, including providing comprehensive water testing for 37 lakes; leading the battle against milfoil; teaching children and adults about the importance of protecting watersheds, and offering technical assistance to landowners, contractors and municipalities.

“Most people truly have a spot in their hearts for the lakes or woods,” says Peter Lowell, LEA’s first and only executive LEA Logo director. “Our job, as I see it, is to help them understand the resource that they care about and enlist their support in actively protecting it. To create a partnership with the people who care.”

Only the support of members makes it possible for LEA to accomplish these important goals. Please join us. Through your LEA membership, you’ll be protecting the lakes we all love.
